We agree on an arrival window when we book the visit.

Plenty of Encino homes have two things that move at the front of the house: the garage door and a driveway gate. We repair both.

When the garage door stops working

It will not lift

A door that stays down after a loud crack from the garage usually has a broken spring. Stop pressing the button, because the opener is now straining against all of the door's weight. See spring repair.

It hangs crooked or jams

A cable has left its drum, or a roller has left the track, and forcing the door either way can bend a section. Cable and track repair shows how we put it right.

The opener runs and nothing moves

Often the release is still disengaged, or the drive gear has stripped. Opener runs but the door does not move explains the fix.

A lift cable that has jumped its drum groove, leaving a slack loop down the edge of the door.

Gate repair in Encino

Our technicians repair swing and slide gates and the operators that drive them. Gate faults usually show up as one of these.

  • The operator hums and the gate stays shut. Often the operator itself, sometimes a seized wheel or hinge holding it back.
  • It opens partway, then stops or rolls back. A safety sensor or a sticking track is the usual cause.
  • A swing leaf drags on the concrete. A hinge or a post has moved. Welding and rehanging the leaf are part of the work.
  • The keypad or remote does nothing. We test the keypad and the operator's board to find which one has stopped answering.

One visit for the door and the gate

Tell us on the call that both need work and we book them together. Our technician inspects each one and writes a separate price for each repair. That price holds, and nothing extra happens without your say-so. How the door half of that visit runs is set out under garage door repair.

Encino, south and north of Ventura Boulevard

In the hills south of Ventura Boulevard, Royal Oaks among them, steep driveways and gates set back from the street are common, and a garage dug into the slope below the house can call for low-headroom hardware. North of the boulevard the streets are flatter, and ranch houses with attached two-car garages are the usual sight.

Questions about doors and gates in Encino

What should I do while the gate is stuck?

Leave it where it is, whether it stopped open or shut. Forcing a heavy leaf by hand can damage the operator and turn a small repair into a larger one. Call and tell us what the gate did before it stopped, and we book the inspection.

Do you work on the keypad and intercom, or only the gate?

Both. Keypads, intercoms, remotes and card or fob readers are part of gate work, and so are the exit loops and photo eyes that keep a closing gate off a car. We service the major operator makes, LiftMaster among them.

Will you tell me if a repair is not worth doing?

Yes. If a door has been patched before and the next repair would cost nearly as much as a new door, we tell you and give you both prices. You can then see how a new door looks on your house before deciding.
